Border Four Finished by TT!

WoW! it seemed to take forever to finish this, but it looks great and while the English Paper Piecing was a good idea, it took a lot of effort. I will be making other plans for the rest!

Coffee & a Wallaby

Just thought I would open this post with a story following our recent week together and our new-found delight! I'm talking about the Wallaby's. What's a Wallaby? Do I leave it as a closely guarded secret between the TT's or let other readers of this blog in on this tasty morsel?

The TT's would be working hard together on their respective projects when a little bell would chime - time for "coffee and a Wallaby". Visitors to the TT's would exclaim "What's a Wallaby?" Well, a Wallaby is the most delicious and perfect little mouthful of heaven on earth! They are hand made delights from Byron Bay and only 39 calories each, so often only one is just not enough! Chocolate, of course! mmmmm!!! Maybe more later on those!

So time for my show and tell for the week. I have actually finished 'Batik Windows' and here is a picture:

What do you think? This quilt was made using a "slash and stack" method. I would not do this again, I would simply use a jelly roll or strips of fabric off the bolt. I think I might make a smaller version to hang in the studio and on my stand at the show in October.

Now I can return my attentions to Mrs Billings and adding border number 3. It's all made, I just have to sew it on! mmm. wonder how long this will take??

Yay It's Done!

Finally it is finished TT. I will be using the same solid border as I used before. After previewing other fabrics it had to be this one!

Batik Nature BOM

I have decided that I am going to complete 2 of the blocks each month so I can finish 2 quilts. The fabric allowance is very generous and I can finish 2 quilts for the price of one and have a quilt up my sleeve for a gift! Smart thinking eh TT!!! And...it gives me choice for the blocks for the#1 quilt.
here are the latest ones.

I ruled up the little log cabin corners and pieced the corners for accuracy. Courtesy of Lotus Fabrics for advice here. Both blocks are quite unique with visual impact.

Border Update August 5th 2012

TT, just an update for you on the progress of the paper piecing border. As you can see, I have all the colours worked out and in the process of putting together. Yesterday I fixed up the corner of the floral border so it sits much flatter now.
I have also been thinking of quilt as I go, so I can fit it under my machine and do it myself. ...bit like this top/batting/white cotton shirting ...then when it is all done in rectangular segments around the square. Only when the quilt is completely finished will I put the backing fabric on and ditch the whole quilt, which would be way more manageable. This is something to think about and hopefully we can work out a method. mmmm.......

I have included photos of my paper piecing in order to maintain accuracy. After completing this, I think I will pursue machine sewing in order to get ahead a bit!!!! See what you think.
